We believe that the environments and settings we create for our children play a critical role in their development. A child’s experience is their learning process. As Jean Piaget said, “Every time we teach a child something, we keep him from inventing it himself…That which we allow him to discover by himself…will remain with him.”
Discovery is central to our educational philosophy. As children explore and discover their world, they learn. They have a natural thirst for knowledge and growth, and it’s our responsibility to nurture that by providing the tools and opportunities for exploration and discovery.
Blue Ivey School is Child-Centered. This means we focus entirely on the individual child, understanding them deeply, and meeting their unique needs. No two children are alike, and we respect and honor their individuality. By observing and understanding where each child is in their development, we guide them to progress, explore, and discover at their own pace.
We prioritize the process of learning over the end product. For us, it’s not about completing an art project or activity, but about what the child learns during the process. We know that children must go through many developmental stages before they are ready to master and retain new skills, such as literacy. They need experiences—hands-on interaction with the world around them—before they can understand and articulate those experiences.
We understand that the earliest or fastest is not always the best. Our approach is patient and nurturing, focusing on all aspects of a child’s development. By encouraging discovery and providing enriching experiences, we aim to foster a lifelong love of learning and excellence in our children.
