Why reading is critical to young brains

Let’s face it—life is hectic. We try to balance it all—work, household management, running the children to sports practice, dance class, and martial arts classes to help them become “well-rounded.” Throw in the occasional doctor’s appointment, dinnertime, and bath time, and we often feel like something has to give.

A word of advice: Don’t let it be reading.

Those bedtime stories are critical — so critical, in fact, that the American Academy of Pediatricians has been advocating reading to your child beginning at birth since 2014.
